“BLACK SEA COAST WITHOUT LITTER!”: DOLPHIN’S STATUE AND AWARENESS RAISING OF ADULTS BY THE KIDS

  • August 03, 2020

Today in Skadovsk, Kherson Oblast, Ukraine a special container for PET-bottles in the form of Dolphin’s statue was installed at the beach. It raised a lot of interest from the people in the beach, who started to feed it with empty bottles. This statue was installed in frame of the pilot project “The Black sea coast line of Kherson region without litter” of the EMBLAS-Plus project.

To this action a special interesting and entertaining magazine “Black Sea coast without litter!” was developed, including interesting facts about the Black Sea and its inhabitants, description of the affects on the litter for environment, advices on proper sorting of the waste, selection of the P-free detergents and etc. It can be downloaded here. It also included environmental crossword, for which special prizes were established. What was impressive that kids were educating adults and their families. The event also included dialogue with local authorities on marine litter prevention.

This event is one in the line of planned public awareness activities to be conducted in frame of this pilot project at 30 km Black Sea coast. We are very grateful for Zero Waste Kherson, our partners for such a nice action!
