SCIENTIFIC WORKSHOP DEDICATED TO THE INTERNATIONAL BLACK SEA ACTION DAY. OCTOBER 31, 2019. POTI, GEORGIA

Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) in close collaboration with the Municipality of City of Poti, the State Hydrographic Service (SHS), following the planned activities within the EU/UNDP project EMBLAS-Plus, organized the scientific workshop dedicated to the International Black Sea Action Day on 31 of October, 2019. An event was designed to cover number of valuable goals, in particular :

-promote aims and objectives of the project,

-underline importance of the results obtained during the monitoring of the marine environment,

-increase environmental awareness in the local communities and stakeholders,

-involve young generation into the implementation of the project.

It should be noted, that the workshop has been included into the activities planned during the 2-nd,  ongoing Autumn session of the monitoring expedition of TSU on ML, and, thus, scientists and students carrying out field works took a part in the workshop, as well.

The valuable range of representatives from  governmental and private agencies, scientific and public education (universities and schools) institutions and NGOs  took a part in the event.

Presentations were introduced by Mayor of the City of Poti Mr. Gocha Kurdghelia, Director of the State Hydrographic Service Mr. Revaz Babilua, the Deputy Dean of TSU Dr. Vazha Trapaidze and Dr. Nino Machitadze and Master’s degree students from TSU, Dr. Nino Gelashvili the S/R Firm “GAMMA”, Assoc. Professor of A. Tsereteli Kutaisi State University Mrs.Manana Pkhakadze, Ms.Eka Gogoladze – Manager of the Port of Poti, Ms.Khatuna Khopheria – Head of Administration Division of Kolkhet National Park,  the teacher of  the public school No4 of the City of Poti Mrs. Marine Miminoshvili and pupils of the school.

The discussion held after presentations reveals the great interest of all participants to share the activities carrying out within the project “EMBLAS Plus” and readiness to actively promote approach, goals and results of the project.

After discussion and informal part the workshop was closed.
