For the first time, the exhibition of the Ukrainian kids’ artworks created in the frame of the science and art school “Black Sea Diary – 2022” was presented abroad.

On 12th June 2023, Ovidius University of Constanta started to host a unique exhibition called “Black Sea diary”. It includes artworks of marine inhabitants developed by refugee kids from temporarily occupied areas in Ukraine (Kherson, Mariupol) or cities under fire. The exhibition’s first presentation was at the Black Sea Day last year in Odesa, Ukraine (read more here). And now it was the first presentation of the exhibition abroad.

Besides the artworks, the three infographics developed by the EMBLAS project were translated and presented in Romanian:

• The Black Sea at a glance

• Chemical pollution and its sources

• Dolphins – flagship species of the Black Sea

At the opening, the representatives of the EU4EMBLAS project and creative space “Dialogues”, who partner for this educational initiative, talked about the project, the art and science school, and key messages learned from this. Besides, there was a discussion about the current problems of the Black Sea.

The visitors to the exhibition were amazed by the talent of the children and the innovative way of bringing the Black Sea knowledge to the wide public, which the project applied.

The exhibition will last till 1 July 2023, after which it might travel to other Black Sea countries. As Romanian colleagues mentioned, they are sure that people in the other parts of the Black Sea basin will also appreciate this exhibition.
