Master class “Unsorted garbage is waste; sorted – resources”

As a part of the Clean Beach Day events, school children of Odesa Environmental Parliament (24 kids in total) got a unique chance to learn about recycling and upcycling plastic.
On 22 September, kids visited the Precious Plastic Laboratory in Odesa. There they learned about the different markings of the plastic and how to upcycle each type (Figure 1). They got a chance to produce their own cup for pencils and a small souvenir from the recycled plastic caps. They also learned about how single-time in-use places and spoons turn… into garden furniture and even a bench.
After the lecture about the danger of marine litter and inspired by the plastic transformation, the kids went home with a strong idea to sort. Because as people said, “It is clean not where people permanently clean, but where they did not throw the waste”.
And this is already a nice contribution to the clean beaches of our Black Sea!
