On 31st of October, at the Black Sea Day, 7 schools made their unique performance under the common title “Voice of the Black Sea”. The event was hosted by the Shota Rustaveli State University (Batumi). The schools prepared for two weeks their theatrical performance, song, dance, or collection of poems thematically related to the problems or popularization of issues related to the Black Sea.

The jury, which included marine scientists (university professors, NGOs and an EU4EMBLAS representative), had a hard time judging the performances. The following criteria were used for assessment: beauty (staging), theme, and actuality. After the competition, the evaluations were announced with appropriate explanations. Three school winners were awarded by the EU4EMBLAS project, the rest got certificates.

In total, 49 school kids participated in the “Voice of the Black Sea”, and the total audience was about 100 people.

Kids were happy to perform, show their talents and at the same time bring up powerful messages about the Black Sea protection and the challenges to it.

After the performances, a separate lecture on the Black Sea was organized for the Ukrainian refugee kids from Batumi School 20. After it, the kids answered the questions about the marine inhabitants and were awarded incentive prizes on behalf of the project.

The event was broadcasted on TV and was very positively recognized in social networks.
