Unique postcards with wise quotes from the Ukrainian marine scientists developed in Ukraine
- November 07, 2024
We are happy to present you with the postcards developed with the support of the EU4EMBLAS. They in futuristic style present some important quotes from famous Ukrainian marine scientists: Yuvenaly Zaytsev and Borys Aleksandrov.
The back side of the postcard has a QR code leading to the books about the Black Sea published by the project with the authorship of these scientists.
1. On the one hand, the death of an insect can, of course, be seen as a small event at our planet. But if it is caused by the deterioration of living conditions, including those in which humans exist, then it is an acute signal of environmental disorder.
Y.P. Zaitsev
2. Indicator organisms can be called sentinels, border guards, or ‘ecological sentinels’ who keep watch on the coast-sea border, where every minute technological progress press on the natural environment. If these plants and animals die, it means that the human attack has intensified. It is even worse if they disappear altogether.
B.G. Aleksandrov
3. Do not disturb sea sounds! This music of nature is ruined in an alien and ugly way by a radio missiles or speaker rocket launched at full capacity.
Y.P. Zaitsev and his students
4. A small fish will become a big fish if only the God and… a holidaymaker allow it to live. I don’t know about God’s influence on the environment – science has no such data. However, a big responsibility is laid on the human.
Y.P. Zaitsev
5. Marine organisms, even with all their hard work, simply cannot digest everything that remains from many holidaymakers who do not care much about keeping the environment clean. This exceeds the ecological capacity of the beach ecosystem.
Y.P. Zaitsev
6. Given the density of holidaymakers on beaches, harvesting seafood for food is an unacceptable luxury! You can still afford it somewhere on a deserted coast, but not where there is mass bathing and where the sea ‘cleaners’ are already overwhelmed.
Y.P. Zaitsev
7. Contour habitats are inhabited by a wide variety of living creatures, which are often overlooked, believing that the main concentrations of life are somewhere in the sea depths.
B.G. Aleksandrov
8. People do not like jellyfish. This is a traditional dislike of those who swim… However, the abundance of jellyfish near the shore is not only not an obstacle to the swimmer, but also a guarantee of the clean water, which these primitive pulsating animals diligently filter.
Y.P. Zaitsev
These postcards are being disseminated now to raise people awareness about the Black Sea and catch their interest towards the project publications.
