«Be careful, underwater mines» or «Modern Ukrainian marine archaeology»

On 7th of September 2025, EU4EMBLAS project once again gathered with the kids of the Black Sea Mosaic weekend school and held the lesson about the underwater mines and ammunition and how to act safely at the beaches and the plans on demining.

The lecture will be given by Serhiy Voronov, the best Ukrainian underwater archaeologist and leading expert in the field of humanitarian demining.
During the lecture, the kids learned:

• what types of mines exist and how demining is carried out;

• what is located on the sunken Russian cruiser Moskva;

• about underwater work by robots with manipulator arms;

• how long it will take to rid our sea of artifacts of war.

The homework for kids is to develop a poster notifying the people walking on the beaches about the danger of particular mines and actions in case of their presence.
