The last lecture of the Black Sea school – about the cetaceans
- November 06, 2025
On October 26, the last lecture of the Black Sea weekend school was held.
It was devoted to the cetaceans of the Black Sea: bottlenose dolphins, white-sided dolphins, and porpoises.
The lecture was given by the wonderful zoologist Pavlo Otryazhyi.
During the lecture, the kids learned:
• How cetacean’ species differ from each other
• Why the hippopotamus is the closest relative of the cetaceans
• How dolphins communicate with each other,
• How humans learn how to “speak” cetaceans’ language
• What cetacians hunt, and many other interesting facts.
Kids asked a lot of questions and perfectly answered the cetaceans’ species identification quiz.
Their homework task was to draw the Black Sea cetaceans, showing the differences between the species.
